Formula D Irwindale

Posted on October 14, 2010

This past weekend I was down watching the Season Finale of Formula D, Irwindale Rd.7 in California. Wish my car was ready so I could have competed in Pro-Am.

I will post some video I find soon!

Von Gittin Jr. ended up winning the Championship and Tanner Foust won the rd.7 event.

Local Driver (WA State) Nikolay Konstantinov put on a good show making the top 32. Unfortunately last practice on Friday night after qualifying he stuffed it pretty hard into the wall. The car was seriously tweaked with the passenger front pushed way in to the shock towers, the team worked all night and had it on the track again for a battle against Von Gittin Jr. in the Top 32 Eliminations. The car was just too bent to be able to keep up to the 650hp Mustang.

The Canadians, though few, made us proud. Here is Pat Cyr from DMCC winning the Pro-Am division in his s2000 Powered AE86

And finally here is Ian Fournier from British Columbia Canada, finishing in the top 8. He was fortunate to get into the top 16 with a by run after Sam Hubinette’s car went up in flames during practice. The top finishing Privateer in PRO!
Really wish things would have worked out so I could have been driving at this event rather than spectating. It’s been a tough past 3 years getting the race car to the track. If you have never been to a Formula D event, go if you have the opportunity.

Brody.
